Although he may spend a considerable amount of time in Europe, namely Berlin, Victor Ruiz is still seen as the golden boy of São Paulo’s underground. The Brazilian producer has kept his hands full in terms of releases. In this month alone, he’s tossing out remixes for Senso Sounds, Hommage and Eklektisch. He’s also holding onto a stellar EP, Jaws, which has been snatched up by Pig & Dan for their ever-expanding Elevate imprint.
Acting as the label’s 15th issue, Ruiz packs three hypnotic offerings into the release. “Uranus” happens to be the only collaborative effort on the package, choosing to cross streams with longtime collaborator Any Mello. Together, they send off a deep, cavernous cut that plays out like a voyage through the cosmos. Fueled by propulsive drums, reverberant claps, swelling pads, and cerebrum-searing melodies, it’s a number you won’t soon forget.
