When it comes to freethinkers of the West Coast bass circuit, there are always a few names that automatically spring to mind. San Francisco’s SMKSGNLS should definitely be up there with all the other usual suspects, as the duo has been steady mobbing with an output that slams through genres like a pissed-off wrecking ball. After they smashed their set at the Regent Theater Bassrush show, alongside Joker and Eprom, the Recs crew had no other option than to let the guys rip one for the label.

“‘MOB’ is a post-apocalyptic banger,” says SMKSGNLS, “that seamlessly fuses dubstep and trap into a grimy, unnerving, and unforgettable tune.”

Like playing with fire, their concoction is an adrenaline-fueled number that makes you feel alive but extremely fragile all at once. Blaring alarms signal the incoming rampage that runs loose once the SMKGNLS blow those clouds of cataclysm over the bone-crushing synth phrases, mean-mugging 808s, and “geeked-up” vocal shots. Once this one gets ignited, good luck trying to calm down the crowd.
