Cosma Brings on the Pain With Neck-Snapping “Choppas”

Home to all that goes boom in the night, Firepower Records has locked in a bone-crushing EP from the one and only Init under his new alias, Cosma. If you like your beats on the filthy, nasty tip, then this one’s for you, as he swarms on aptly titled bits like “Hornets” and “Wild.” Both tracks live up to their names as they bring on the goosebumps and eerie darkness before Cosma flexes on his next-level production skills and delivers a hard-nosed drop that hits the switches at will. Bits like “True Gangster” show him flexing on the deeper trap tip, as the wonky subs brings on the bounce and head-nodding hypnotism before our absolute favorite of the bunch, “Choppas,” features Cosma bringing it all together in inimitable style.

Designed to bring on the mainstage destruction, the evil core of the tune prepares the crew for the darkside creep, before the percussion comes crushing in and the intricate melodies floating at the edges take your breath away. As Cosma tells us:

“I wanted to challenge myself to write a spooky-type intro, because I’ve always been into dark sounds and those feelings you get from them. With the drop, I was experimenting with where I want to go with my sound and make something that goes hard live, but keeps a super minimalistic bassline that people can get into!”

By all accounts, he’s more than succeeded—but we’ll leave it up to the crew banging their heads at the rails for the final word.
