We capture a mental fingerprint of some of our musical and cultural heroes and preserve it in cyber-amber for the wonderment of future generations. This is the Insomniac Questionnaire.

What was your favorite toy as a child, and when and why did you stop playing with it?
LEGO—I built whole cities! I love building things. I stopped playing when I ran out of space. “Seriously, enough is enough!” my mother used to say.

What is the best advice you’ve ever gotten? Did you take it?
Much advice through the years: be careful with you money; follow your heart; be true to yourself; stand up for justice; don’t be an idiot in love.

What part of your day do you look forward to most?
I wake up excited! I love it all; a walk in the park with my two dogs is equally as important to me as performing onstage.

What’s the best time you’ve ever had without spending money?
In a creative state, producing music. It still is and always will be.

What is your most treasured possession?
My record collection.

What is your favorite word?
Gosh.

Do you owe an apology to anyone?
I always try to make it right when I’m wrong, so when I apologize, the rest is up to them after that.

When is the last time you were really scared?
When the doctor said: “I found a lump.”

What is the last thing you googled?
My last date, lol.

What’s the last sound you would want to hear before you die?
A child laughing.

Do you have any recurring dreams or nightmares?
I have plenty of flying dreams, and plenty of dreams where I’m having sex with Brad Pitt. That is the real reason Jen and he split up—it was my fault. I feel bad, kinda.

How do you measure success?
I don’t. I’m a human being, not a human doing. I just “be” the best that I can and stay true to myself. It’s a daily work in progress.

If you could have one magical/superpower, what would you want, and why?
To know the winning lottery numbers. I would create so many amazing things, like schools, and further education with that money in countries all over the globe.

Have you ever had a brush with the paranormal or supernatural?
Yes, I have seen two ghosts when I was a little girl—never forgotten it. I am an avid horror fan since.

What do you remember about your first kiss?
I ran away because I thought you had to hold your nose; it was awkward.

What four words best describe you?
Ask my friends. Okay, from my POV: funny, smart, driven, hopeless romantic.

What’s the last impulsive thing you did?
Gave a beautiful guy my number, and he is now my boyfriend. I usually never do that.

Do you have a pet? Tell us a story about it/him/her.
I have two dogs that are my world: Rebel and Kyma. They teach me so much and get me out into the world! Rebel sings, and I named him after I heard him howling to a Billy Idol song—“Rebel Yell.” Kyma, named after a synth, is a Japanese chin and too funny. She is such a clown!

What is your strongest (or best) personality trait?
My protectiveness. I won’t be bullied and will not let others be. I fight for whatever I think is worth fighting for. I have had to fight a lot as a woman in this business—believe me.

Do you believe in any conspiracy theories or urban legends?
Yes, Behold a Pale Horse. Read that book. It has them all in one read.
