Nat Self has a knack for giving rise to dancefloor shakers that just won’t die, which is precisely the reason why his Zombie Disco Squad moniker is so fitting for the London-based producer. He’s a crucial component to the UK club scene, with a noteworthy number of house and tech slayers under his belt on labels from DFTD to dirtybird. Next week, he adds some more cred to the ZDS hype through his debut appearance on the Swiss imprint Hive Audio.

The two-track EP Rok Stuff is jammed with loads of smack and spunk to get you happily stuck between a rock and a hard bass. The second tune, “Spun Out,” is a bouncy workout with wild vocal samples peppered in between a galloping rhythm and groove-laden layers. Hit the first spin of the Zombie Disco Squad bomb below.

Available April 13 via Hive Audio.

If this song were a color, what color would it be?
Vermillion—bright and effervescent.

How do you measure the success of a track?
I do of course love the praise of my peers and all that, but the truth of it is, I only really care about what I think of it and if I’m happy with it. I frequently delete songs that might do quite well but I’m not happy with them. I feel that this is the only way to really make music. If you’re writing for others, I don’t think you will ever really write anything other than copies of the flavor of the month, which to me takes the challenge and fun out of making tunes.

If you were to describe this track as a scent, a signature fragrance as it were, what would it be called? If it were to have a tagline, what would it be?
Wet Bolder by Roc Stuff. For the stone cold and the volcanic only.

Describe the best setting/activity to hear this track.
Volcano Rave.
