The ultimate compliment a producer can receive on a new track is having an alpha dog like Armin van Buuren plugging it in his A State of Trance radio show. It’s a flattering feat, indeed, but Speed Limits (Espen and Matteo) and Cannavo & Nesse (Erik and Chris) had it coming to them. The pair of hotly tipped duos has been shredding the scene to pieces with their respective productions, so seeing them square up on a collab is music to our ears. On “Out of Sight,” they swoop in with lilting keys, savory plucks and enough euphoric razzle-dazzle to make this a one-way ticket to progressive trance paradise.

Available October 26 via Enhanced Music.
Did you discuss or exchange ideas with other producers while creating this track?
Chris: There are actually some sounds from Thomas Hayes in this track! One of the vocal pads in the background in the break comes from him. They sound delicious, so luckily he gave us permission to leave them in there.

Who is the ideal person to remix this track?
Espen: I would love to hear Flite and Etherwood remixes of this track. I’m a big drum & bass fan, and their tracks are too good!

C: Rafaël Frost and Grant Bowtie. Absolutely amazing artists!

How do you measure the “success” (whatever that means to you) of a track?
C: The number of plays and support. If no DJs play it and no people listen to it, I wouldn’t really call it a successful track. The first DJ playing the track was actually Armin van Buuren, so it got a flying start!

Creatively, how did the work on this track stack up to previous studio sessions? Was this more challenging to complete than others, and why?
E: This was actually one of the hardest tracks to finish [that] I’ve worked on in a long time. It started with me producing the break, but I just couldn’t figure out how to go from the break into a drop that really worked. So I thought, “Who makes badass tunes with great drops these days?” And I sent it to Chris, who worked with it for two hours before he sent me a quick preview of what he was thinking, and it sounded amazing! So he basically cracked the code on this one!

What’s your favorite sound/synth/effect/etc. used here, and why?
E: For me, it is the flute-ish sound in the break. I love it because it sounds so ethereal (for lack of a better word), and how it goes from being the main sound in the break to a background sound when the lead melody comes in.
