Last month, BBC Radio 1 legend Pete Tong selected “First Contact,” from the swiftly rising Liverpool star Kydus, as an “Essential New Tune.” And it wasn’t the first time, either, that Tong had given one of his records the nod, having already awarded the coveted gong to no fewer than three other of Kydus’ tunes over the last year. However, it’s clear that “First Contact” is going to be one of the anthems of the summer.

Showing hints of its energy early on, “First Contact” begins on a percussive tech-house drive that will be enough to get even the biggest of dancefloors moving. However, it’s the massive melody that gradually builds into the track several minutes in that will really blow the roof off. This is one of those tracks for the really massive moments—so don’t sleep on it.
