Rey & Kjavik’s Deep Slow-Burner “Escape”
Travel is a great way to gain personal perspective. Just ask Rey & Kjavik, who followed his wanderlust a few years ago from his hometown of Frankfurt, Germany, to visit Istanbul, New York, San Francisco and beyond. While on his extended travels, he attended Burning Man in Nevada’s Black Rock Desert, and it changed him in a profound, permanent way, as the desert tends to do.
Upon his return to Germany, he was inspired by his newfound modesty to head into the studio and produce his latest LP, Rkadash. Standout tracks like “Escape” deliver a slower dance tempo, a more emotive melody with distinct Eastern influences.
“A hard-hitting bassline and strong breaks—that’s a language that everybody’s able to understand,” he said. “But taking off on an emotional journey with a style of music that most crowds are not really aware of is an entirely different experience.”
