Matteo Floris Shows off His Sampling Skills on “Soul Shaker”

As cofounder and acting A&R arm, Matteo Floris has been putting in mad man-hours to ensure his imprint, Svogue Muziq, bulks up its catalog with only the finest listens. With loads of his own work soon to be filed on labels such as Simma Red, D-Vine Sounds and Elrow Music, the Barcelona-based producer has set aside three new originals as the first Svogue release of 2016.

Showcasing his longtime affinity for breaks and hip-hop, Floris’ Supervisors EP checks off his influences as a B-boy growing up on the small Italian island of Sardinia. The closing cut “Soul Shaker” is a sample-laced number, pushing out a hodgepodge of one-shots, scratching and vocal play while a riding bassline fills out the track’s underbelly. It’s full of spirit, something that Matteo Floris can bring up and down the dancefloor.
