We’ve got a funky treat to help you usher in the weekend. Talented Mexican producer Juan Soto has teamed up with his friend Rocco Desentis to bring you “El Estado Mayor.” The track appears on a commemorative compilation, El Disco Es Cultura, for the Mexican imprint Electrique Music, which is celebrating their 80th release. The compilation features tracks from their all-star roster, including Bufi, Eddie Mercury and La Royale.

Enjoy this groovy premiere, and be sure to pick up the entire package on January 19.

Juan Soto:

If this song were a color, what color would it be?
I think it must be dark indigo!

Did you discuss or exchange ideas with other producers while creating this track?
Yes, in fact, I was doing this track by myself when my friend Rocco came to my studio and helped in giving me an unexpected twist to this track.

What’s your favorite sound/synth/effect/etc. used here, and why?
Rocco’s voice, when he says, “Tu sabes que es verdad.” I also like the the harmonic bass change. I think it’s mind-blowing.

Creatively, how did the work on this track stack up to previous studio sessions? Was this more challenging to complete than others? Why?
Making this track was very fun, because we’d recently downloaded some cool VSTs and samples. The difficult part was picking the right sounds.

Do you think advances in computer technology and gear have affected your creativity? How so?
Yes! It is because of the advances in computer technology that I can make my music. All of the different uses of my software helps me a lot, as well as the different ways of sample warping.
