Repping Phoenix, Arizona, G-house don Bijou is primed and ready to rock Nocturnal with his ballistic barrage of down and dirty party beats—especially if this exclusive Bijou Nocturnal Wonderland Mix is any indication.

Blasting straight out of the gate with booming bass and gangster house reworks of old-school classics from the likes of Missy Elliott and Dr. Dre, the mix is a full-on party-to-go that will light up anything from a backyard BBQ to an impromptu dance jam anywhere you can plug it in with an aux cord.

“I’ve always loved house music. I was a DJ first and then a producer second, so the music I was playing really helped me decide that,” Bijou explained in a recent interview. “I get inspiration from everything I see and hear. I listen to a wide variety of genres, so I like to incorporate aspects from all different styles into the music I make. I’m a huge hip-hop fan, and you can hear that influence in the majority of my releases. I’ve dabbled in other genres, and I am working on some other things, but nothing I would put out under my current project.”

Credited for bringing the emerging G-house sound to Arizona, the pioneering DJ dove headfirst into the world of music after taking a life spent as Ben Dorman, playing baseball all the way up to the indie leagues. It was a trip to Nocturnal Wonderland Texas in 2010 that inspired him to trade in sports for music, and he hasn’t looked back since.

Now the mastermind behind the #HustleLife ethos as Bijou, the DJ/producer has released a slew of bombastic tracks, both solo and alongside other producers—including Matroda, Daas, Gerry Gonza, and Thee Cool Cats.

“’Work hard’ is the best advice I can give,” he said when asked what he would tell aspiring producers and DJs hungry to someday hit the decks at an Insomniac event like Nocturnal Wonderland. “Hard work pays off; that’s a fact. Meet as many people as you possibly can in this industry, as well. Just like any other industry, it boils down to who you know.”

Nocturnal Wonderland 2017 takes place Friday, September 15, and Saturday, September 16, at Glen Helen Regional Park in San Bernardino, CA. Tickets are available now. For more information, visit the official website.
