When it comes to next-generation producers in the realm of bass-heavy house who are situated to dominate future festival lineups, L.A. producer Jauz is surely at the top of the pile. After early releases that saw solid stables like Mad Decent and OWSLA giving him the nod of approval, he’s taken steps to build his own empire, and his Bite This! label is all part of the master plan.

Its next release is the three-track Relent EP from Ryan Collins that arrives later this week, and we’re bringing you a preview of one of its cuts as our Track of the Day. “Revolution” is a dynamic offering that sees him linking up with Kyle Walker, another familiar face from the Bite camp. Together, they keep listeners on their toes, warming up with an evocative array of synths and diva vocals suggesting we’re in house music territory. However, that’s before they flip the switch and roll out the chunky bassline, which is as brash and noisy as the opening intro is sexy and sultry.

“This collaboration with Kyle Walker came about very naturally and quickly became one of my favorite tracks,” Collins tells Insomniac. “It sounds like a relatively simple song, but there are a lot of very complex and complicated elements going on, which the naked ear wouldn’t catch unless you listen closely. The juxtaposition between the soft, deep pads and the grungy, distorted bass gives the track tons of energy that gratifies any dancefloor.”

Available March 8 via Bite This! Records.
