Since partnering a decade ago, Frederic Möring-Sack and Christian de Jonquieres have homed in on a lush, organically driven aesthetic that tends to teeter seamlessly between house and techno. They’ve done so under the guise of Piemont, a German duo who’ve solidified a tastemaker status through releases on Lapsus, Toolroom, Exploited, Definition Music, and Glassgow Underground. Now, the gents are furthering that reputation through the launch of their very own imprint, Moonless Air.

Piemont puts its own name on the line for MAR001, coming out of the gate with two choice cuts packaged together on the Swung Blind EP. They capture the sparkle of the after-hours beautifully on the titular offering, a deep and dazed-out bit made for those late nights on the dancefloor. Incantatory vocal chants echo out over the spellbinding groove, which is punctuated by rippling synth progressions, glaring chord stabs, and a perfectly polished percussive finish. It’s a remarkable introductory release that Piemont will presumably look back on with pride after the countless others that are sure to follow.

Available December 1 via Moonless Air.
