Only a couple of short days are left until Wasteland 2018 officially gets off the ground, at which time thousands of the most passionate Headliners will crash the NOS Events Center for a double dose of pure, unadulterated hard dance. As we speak, the venue is getting all done up and ready for another SoCal gathering put on by our trusty Basscon crew. They’re pulling out all the stops for this show and taking things a step further with the launch of their own record label. It’s the start of a new era.
Naturally, they took the most logical route for their first issue and decided to pay tribute to Wasteland and the killer lineup it is repping this year. Pulling from the highest reaches of the roster, the seven-track compilation album is the only sneak peak you need to get a feel for what’s on the table this weekend.
D-Block & S-te-Fan link up with Villain on “We Don’t Stop (Lights Out),” a vocal-led anthem that urges revelers to rave until the final beat of the night rings out. On “Scarborough Fair,” TNT goes toe-to-toe with Timmy Trumpet to deliver a hard-edged offering with a bone-shattering bounce and Renaissance-inspired breakdown. Holding it down for the hardcore crowd, Rob Gee ropes in Mr. Bassmeister for a special edit of “A DJ Saved My Life.” American producer STARX takes “Worldwide” into a Frankenstein-type beast fusing psy and hardstyle elements to create maximum carnage. The rest of the mini-comp is backed by plenty of other showstoppers, including Adrenalize, Max Enforcer, Evil Activities, and Bass Modulators.
Whether you’re already locked in with a ticket or need a push in the right direction, the Wasteland compilation is here to help take the hype to an extreme level. Start shaping up for the fest by hitting up the full stream above.
