‎Insomniac Events
Price: Free

It’s always worth repeating: Insomniac fans, the real Headliners of the show, are the reason we stay up late doing what we do—and why get up early. Doctors, soldiers, teachers, yoga instructors, chefs, baristas—you name it—our Headliners might grind and roll their way through life along different paths on their way to the dancefloor, but they’re like family once they’ve arrived. In celebration of their uniqueness and the music and lifestyle that connects us all, we give you HeadlinerHIGHLIGHTS, an ongoing series profiling the diverse individuals that make up the Insomniac community.

Let’s start off with a little about you and dance music.
I am 25 years old, and I was born in Fullerton, CA—but raised in Compton, CA. I found dance music through a friend who liked dubstep acts like Flux Pavilion, Doctor P, FuntCase, etc. I asked him one day if these DJs play concerts or whatever, and he introduced me to Audiotistic in 2011 at the NOS Events Center with Datsik, 12th planet, Dirtyphonics, etc. I had the best time of my life; the people, the vibes, the art installations—everything about it was magical, like I escaped real life for that moment. I was hooked ever since and have been going to nothing but Insomniac festivals: Escape, Beyond, Nocturnal, White Wonderland. Every time I go to an event, I make new friends. If it if wasn’t for these festivals, I don’t know how I’d live.

How would you describe an Insomniac event to someone at work who has never been?
It is the best concert I’ve been to. The people, vibes, art installations, the DJs—everything is just spectacular. The feeling of just getting away for a day or two is always needed. And making new friends is always good.

What’s a typical day like for you at work?
Just wake up, have coffee, and vape. Then it’s off to work from 10 – 6:30 pm, followed by the gym for an hour and then watch whatever sports are on. Then I eat dinner, and do it all again the next day.

Do you go out and party with coworkers?
I keep my work and party life completely separate, for personal reasons. I don’t do drugs or anything, but I feel boundaries are needed in that area for me.

What do you like to do outside of dance music?
Just go out with friends, go shopping, eat some good food, or do other activities like bowling, movies or something like that.

If you could have one magical/superpower, what would you want?
I would want to be like Dr. Vision off of Civil War, because he is one of the best characters.
