Your Favorite DJs Unleash Their Inner Superhero at Super You&Me Stage at Escape: Psycho Circus
With Escape: Psycho Circus finally here, the spirit of Halloween is thick in the air. If you’re a Headliner attending the spooky rave this weekend, expect to see tons of ghouls, goblins, witches, warlocks, kandi kids and ravers galore. Also, keep an eye out for a wave of superheroes, both familiar and completely unknown. They’ll likely spend most of their night at the Super You&Me Stage.
Presented by world-class producer/DJ Laidback Luke, his internationally traveling Super You&Me brand is a superhero-themed stage in which all DJs and performers dress up as their favorite costumed combatant. Instead of fighting crime or their nemeses onstage, they promote fat beats, unity through music, and the spirit of PLUR. It’s one super job of superhero stature only a superstar DJ like Luke and his friends can pull off.
This weekend, the celebrated Super You&Me stage comes to Escape: Psycho Circus on night two, where Laidback Luke will fight the perils of bad music and not enough bass alongside his league of super DJ friends, including Sultan + Shepard, Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano, Mat Zo, MAKJ, D.O.D, Gina Turner, Shaun Frank, the Magician and Davi.
We’ve asked all the Super You&Me artists performing this weekend to unveil their secret superhero identities, their one true weakness, and their mission to protect the world.
Laidback Luke
What is your superhero name? Where are you from (Earth or elsewhere in the universe)?
My Superhero is Laidback Luke. I’m from the original Planet of Dance.
What are your super powers and how did you get them?
My super powers are to empower the crowd with my beats. I can change moods. I give people memories.
Who is your nemesis, and why do they want to fight you?
My nemeses are the invaders of Planet Fake, who want my powers, but can’t seem to get them.

What is your one weakness?
My weakness is that I care for the mear mortals.
What are you trying to save the world from and why?
I’m trying to save the world from the everyday struggles and concerns.

D.O.D
What is your superhero name? Where are you from (Earth or elsewhere in the universe)?
My superhero name is Dr. D.O.Deadly from Uranus.
What are your super powers and how did you get them?
My main superpower is the Bass Blast. Anyone who isn’t dancing gets a bass blast, and then they have no control of their body and have to dance. This power was stolen from Bass Man, the villain. I can also see through female clothing; I have this power just because…
Who is your nemesis, and why do they want to fight you?
My nemesis is Banana Man because he wants to take my see through female clothing super power.
What is your one weakness?
Vodka. I lose all my super powers with Vodka.
What are you trying to save the world from and why?
Dr. D.O.Deadly is trying to save the world from bad music, traveling the globe to deliver only the very best in dance music. Try and stop me, and you’ll get a Bass Blast in your face!

Gina Turner
What is your superhero name? Where are you from (Earth or elsewhere in the universe)?
My superhero name in real life would be DJ Mom, since I sometimes feel like I have superpowers juggling being a mother and a DJ at the same time! My costume for Escape is Catwoman, though!
What are your super powers and how did you get them?
My super powers include sometimes doing miraculous things only with one hand being DJ Mom, since my other hand is occupied with a squirmy toddler.
Who is your nemesis, and why do they want to fight you?
This is an interesting one because she’s also my love! But I would say toddler temper tantrums are my nemesis, as well as never enough sleep
What is your one weakness?
Starbucks green tea lattes; I’ll do anything for one.
What are you trying to save the world from and why?
I’m trying to save the world by helping others open their minds and live more peaceful and grounded and centered by teaching yoga all over the world.

Sultan + Shepard
What is your superhero name? Where are you from (Earth or elsewhere in the universe)?
Sultan: I’m Dr. Dreadlock from Planet of the Dreads, a dark and hazy planet only the brave should venture to.
Ned: I’m Nedrostar. I was born at the exact moment when the Nedro Star, in the faraway Planet Nedwood, exploded and broke off to create its own planet
What are your super powers and how did you get them?
Sultan: Each dreadlock acts as a tentacle capable of not only handling a weapon, but it has the ability to wrap itself around objects and destroy them. My powers come from inhaling the haze of the Planet of the Dreads.
Ned: I have the power to see all of the future and all of the past. You can’t lie to me because I know everything you’ve done and will do. My powers were given to me due to the fact that my birth coincided with the exact moment that the Nedro Star exploded and became its own planet. In that moment, I was able to see all of time at once.
Who is your nemesis, and why do they want to fight you?
Sultan: My nemesis is the Bald Billionaire. He’s been trying to steal my dreads to make them into new hair for himself!
Ned: My arch nemesis is my evil twin brother Edrostar, who still resides on planet Nedwood, which he now controls and is trying to call Edwood. He is jealous I escaped from Nedwood and have super powers, while he was born with none because he was born eight minutes later than me.
What is your one weakness?
Sultan: My weakness is donuts. In their presence, the dreads lose focus of everything they are doing and consume the donuts.
Ned: My weakness is gummy bears. The sweet flavor temporarily impairs my ability to see the future and the past and only makes me want more gummy things.
What are you trying to save the world from and why?
Sultan: I’m trying to save the world from boredom, using the power of my dreads to inspire creativity in other people.
Ned: I’m trying to save the world from bullshit, one bullshitter at a time.

MAKJ 
What is your superhero name? Where are you from (Earth or elsewhere in the universe)?
Name: Racer X. Origin: Earth
What are your super powers and how did you get them?
Agility, stamina, stealth, tracking, unarmed combat, and weapon master are all traits of Racer X. I achieved these attributes from training with the International Secret Police.
Who is your nemesis, and why do they want to fight you?
Evil racecar drivers, who will stop at nothing to get first place. These dangerous and evil drivers constantly try to get rid of me and my brother Speed Racer because we are the biggest competition.

What is your one weakness?
As Racer X, my biggest weakness is having to watch over my younger brother. Having to protect my family at all costs seems to almost always get me into real trouble.
What are you trying to save the world from and why?
As Racer X, I’ve committed my life to making sure my family is safe and to fighting to spoil evil globalist and corporate schemes.

SuperSunnery & RyanMan.
What are your super powers and how did you get them?
We can make people dance every second of every day, no matter where they are.
Who is your nemesis, and why do they want to fight you?
Our nemesis would be Laidback Luke since that guy has been dressing up as a superhero for years. He would be angry with us if we were to steal his thing.
What is your one weakness?
Our one weakness is that we both have a baby. We love them, so we don’t take as much risks as before.
What are you trying to save the world from and why?
We’re not saving the world; we’re helping the world. We make sure all deaf people can hear again and listen to our music.
