Stepsequence Your Way Into the Future

What comes first, the music or the dancing? Most of us would say the former always precedes the latter—but the creative team at German art studio schenellebuntebilder is switching things up with their STEPSEQUENCER installation. Like something out of a dream in a new-age arcade, anyone lucky enough to give this thing a whirl instantly becomes a simultaneous dancer and beat-maker.

The user’s movements control the sounds through their interaction with the different parts of the “full body music tool.” Touch the pads of the round floor projection, or jump, twist and seesaw on each of the other three tools. As long as you keep moving, the sounds keep coming. Soon enough, you’ll find yourself in a rhythmic routine. We hope this exhibit makes its way to America someday—we’re dying to try it.
