Today we launch Kick Picks, a semimonthly look at Kickstarter campaigns worth your consideration.

Boké Expressway Vol. 1: Chasing a Song

Chicago’s Jacob Halton has set a goal of $5,000 to help publish Boké Expressway, a graphic novel series that promises plenty of “sex, drugs & techno.” His first issue, “Chasing a Song,” chronicles one man’s descent into madness as he tries to identify a DJ’s epic anthem (presumably at a time before Shazam/computer-like trainspotters). It’s all done, and he just needs some help to print it up. Incentives to donate include print and PDF copies of the issue and the chance to commission an original art piece.

I/O: An Electronic Music Documentary

Canadian filmmaker Kevan McGovern is close to reaching his goal of $30,381, but he still needs a bit of a boost. He fell in love with documenting the festival scene with his documentary short The Shambhala Experience, a digital copy of which is one of the rewards for donating toward I/O, his full-length look at what draws people to become intoxicated with electronic music and dancing. By the looks of the trailer, McGovern has assembled a talented shooting team, and he’s promised interviews with the likes of Z Trip, Rusko, A. Skillz, Glitch Mob and more.

Vinylframe Vinyl Record Frames

Another campaign from Canada, Justin and Matt from Vinylframe are hoping to raise $7,548 in order to upgrade the machinery on which they make a range of wood record frames that can be mounted on the wall above your decks. Their rewards include up to 25 percent off the products and guaranteed shipping for Christmas, should you still be struggling to think of the perfect gift for the vinyl enthusiast in your life.

Old Dirty Brasstards’ Debut Album

Ever heard of drum & brass? (No, that’s not a typo.) UK festival favorites Old Dirty Brasstards are just a hair away from nailing the $11,426 goal to help them release a debut album of “recorded drum ‘n’ brass to help you shake your ass” in the form of covers of songs like “Get Lucky,” “Royals,” “Crazy in Love” and “Don’t You Want Me Baby.” Their donation rewards include vinyl copies of the album, as well as the opportunity to have them cover the song of your choice.
