As we get ready to knock on the door of 2016, we asked some of our favorite DJs to give us their top five tracks of the year. Dive into Cosmic Gate’s essential selections below.

In a year when everyone touted the resurrection of trance, genre titans Cosmic Gate proved it never left. There isn’t much the German trance duo hasn’t accomplished in their extensive 16-year career, but as the two decade milestone inches closer, Cosmic Gate push forward sonically and artistically.

Never ones to slow down, Cosmic Gate, composed of producers/DJs Nic Chagall and DJ Bossi, close out 2015 on a high note. Fueled by their massive collaboration with Armin van Buuren, “Embargo,” their growing Wake Your Mind Records imprint, their corresponding Wake Your Mind Radio show, and their current North American winter tour, Cosmic Gate are setting up the building blocks for an even bigger 2016, which kicks off with a highly anticipated performance at Dreamstate San Francisco in mid-January.

Eric Prydz “Opus”

Our absolute track of the year, simply different than any other music out there. A unique masterpiece! The build never seems to end; it nearly drives you into insanity. What a work by Eric Prydz once again. Hats off to the maestro for this true opus!

Darude “Sandstorm” (Mark Sixma Bootleg)

If you rework one of the biggest dance instrumental tunes of all time, then you better do it right! And what can we say? Mark Sixma delivered big time, building a genre-crossing dancefloor monster. It’s maybe the biggest dancefloor smasher of the year in our sets.

Andrew Bayer ft. Asbjørn “Super Human”

He sure is at the top of the list of favorite producers in our genre, and we wish there were more such outstanding talent writing one excellent track after the other. It’s hard to pick just one, but “Super Human” maybe even tops Andrew Bayer’s other tunes. His production level is simply outstanding. Respect!

Armin van Buuren & Cosmic Gate “Embargo”

After so many years of talking about getting to the studio together, the three of us finally made it! What can we say? We are more than happy with the outcome. “Embargo” is an absolute highlight in our sets from day one, showing simplicity often is the key.
