EDNIC “Auberste” (Carola Pisaturo Botta Mix)
At the end of March, the vinyl-only imprint Puas Puas will press a limited, 250-run release from EDNIC. The three-track wax pack sees the Italian duo offering up an original in the form of “Auberste,” an analog-driven, acid-suffused workout. It checks off nicely with the label’s obdurate objective to seek out the finest in house and techno.
Speaking of which, fellow Italian-native Carola Pisaturo shows up to the scene with two sultry remix contributions on the effort. Closing out the EP—contrasting her melody-rich Church Mix—the Botta Mix is a stripped-down thumper that boasts provocative vocals, crisp percussion programming and boorish chord stabs. This one could rip out basements and warehouses straight from their foundations. Just watch.

If you were to describe this track as a scent—a signature fragrance, as it were—what would it be called, and what would its tagline be?
I would like it parfumed like a blooming summer flower—not too sweet, but persistent like the lemon scent.
Did you discuss or exchange ideas with other producers while creating this track?
As it was a remix, I tried to stay in touch with EDNIC, who produced the original track—above all because this is a very instrumental track with many melodies in it. And yes, we confronted each other enough.
Were you impulsive on this track, or did you have a sketch in mind before you started?
Yes, I had many different ideas in my mind; some sounds from the original strike me more than others, so I obviously strode working on them. But then, as it usually happens to me, everything was distorted during the remix construction; but after all, this is one of the things I love the most of my job!
Have you played this one out in any of your sets? If so, what was the response?
I conceived this track in the final part of the night, the part I love the most, when rhythms slow down and atmospheres get darker. Yes, l’ve already played it, but I’ll leave it to you to judge my job.
