If there’s any guy who has seriously flown under the radar here in the US, it’s Redlight. He was way ahead of the bassline frenzy with tracks like “Stupid” and “Source 16”; he then shifted gears slightly and cranked out monsters in “9TS” and “Gold Teeth.” His debut album X Colour is due this fall, and it should hopefully see him make the almighty crossover into Gorgon City/Disclosure territory. Hopefully.

If you think I’m blowing smoke, then I’ll let “Metronome” do the talking. Roses Gabor gets things moving with a naughty delivery before Redlight’s tuned 808s drop into the mix like an atom bomb. It’s clear his foundation was molded from the ‘90s UK D&B scene, but it’s his ability to look into the future and create something entirely fresh and individual that’s exciting.

I also have to throw in a sneaky plug for our Metronome mix series, so you can go get lost in the archives after you give this track a few more spins.
