Free Download: Mercer Dips Below the Surface on “Straight Up”

It’s becoming more common to see some of the marquee names distancing themselves from the big room to explore some of the side-room sounds. For his latest bit, Parisian powerhouse Mercer takes a modest dip below the surface without losing too much of his mainstage appeal. “Straight Up,” which he’s handing out on the house, isn’t a full-blown underground joint. However, the intermittently ravey broken beat brings some of that old-school juice, while the zappy, punch-and-kick drop keeps the future in focus. There’s no doubt this will be a high point in Mercer’s set moving forward.
