Memtrix Soars to the Skies Again on “Clouds in Commune”

Still buzzing off the success of his Towers EP on the forward-thinking Sotto Voce imprint, Memtrix returns to the scene of the crime with yet another massive single designed to cap off an epic year for the 20-year-old Kent native.

Taking a cue from label boss Feed Me/Spor, Memtrix once again brings on the goosebumps with an adrenaline-fueled rush that is equal parts breathtaking and ethereal. While Friction has been caning “IC YR PAIN” lately, it’s the deep and soaring “Clouds in Commune” that has us by the heartstrings. Sweeping pads, swirling atmospheres, and the vocal lyricism of Memtrix himself hold it down while the bottom-end and driving groove keep things firmly rooted in the dancefloor.

“It’s definitely more of a lengthened journey, ranging through various different sections and progressions, rather than just a straight-up, to-the-point drum & bass track,” Memtrix explains. “My aim when writing it was to home in on the epic, more emotive side of the sounds, but still retain a form of energy and heaviness. And I think if you’re writing dance music, it can be quite hard to find the right balance with those things at times—but I’m happy with how this track turned out in the end.
