Harnessing equal finesse on the mic, in the booth and at the studio, Joyce Muniz is one of those naturals who are clearly cut out for placement in the global arena. As a triple-threat, the Brazilian-born, Vienna-based shining light is carrying venerable clout in the underground scene these days. Muniz is a week away from heading back to her home on Exploited Records to drop off her newest club coup, You Always Get Me High.

Featured on the flip of this two-tracker is “Down Brooklyn.” The cut is exponentially edgy and has all the right pieces to start a party in a warehouse, the office or practically any place with functioning audio. Syncopated rhythms ride with pride, while palpitating synths take cover under warm basslines. You won’t believe how well it all works together.

Available May 18 via Exploited Records.

Did you discuss or exchange ideas with other producers while creating this track?
Yes, sometimes I discuss it with the guy I am sharing my studio [with]. I think it is important to get some feedback, especially when you work for a long time on one single track; it is easy to lose track. Back in the days, I didn’t like that approach, but nowadays I do.

Were you impulsive on this track, or did you have a sketch in mind before you started?
This track was definitely impulsive… After I found the proper bassline, I was pretty sure that it would be a dancefloor banger!

Describe the best setting/activity to hear this track.
When I finished the track, I was waiting for the next warehouse party to play it. This is so much a warehouse track, you know… a track that needs a proper sound system.

Have you played this one out in any of your sets? If so, what was the response?
I played it a few times, and it worked very well. This is definitely a track for the underground bass-lovers out there.

If this song were a color, what color would it be?
Purple.
