In the music world, everyone is always obsessing about discovering the next hottest commodity before anyone else sniffs out the raw talent for themselves. The Audiophile XXL team evidently has one of the best noses in the industry, because the imprint has been putting understated artists on blast with their biannual compilation series, Double XX Grande. On Friday, they’re slated to showcase a fresh crop of up-and-comers through Volume 6 of the series, and in its typical fashion, there’s no shortage of hidden treasures from the bass house, tech house, garage, and bassline circuits.

Smokbit is one of the artists that have been scooped up for the 14-track album, presumably because he’s caused quite the fuss under the banner of the Brazilian tech movement. His contribution to the comp is woke af, a self-aware tech roller by the name of “My Universe.” A shuffling percussive framework keeps things locked, while jittering synthlines, pulsating low-end, and an effusing vocal sample advocating for a heightened level of existence.

Available October 27 via Audiophile XXL.
