Ruben Mandolini Dishes Out Seductive Tech Roller “Romantica”
In the six years since he first surfaced, Ruben Mandolini has made himself out to be one of the hidden gems nestled within Italy’s bustling underground circuit. Originally from the province of Prato, the hotly tipped producer has crept up the techno and house food chain by appearing on virtually every label with tremendous weight attached to its name. Saved Records, Snatch!, Off Recordings, Suara, Terminal M, and more have placed their faith in his bodacious grooves, but Lapsus Music is one imprint that has been behind him from the start. This Friday, Mandolini is contributing another two-track EP to their catalog, and he’s operating more slyly than ever.
As the title suggests, “Romantica” is a seven-minute display of pure tech house seduction. Punchy drum sequences and swooshing stabs set the mood, greasing things up for the soulful vocal to tickle the spaces between stuttering horns and a nimble synth lead that slithers up and down the hip-shaking rhythm. At the end of its run, Ruben Mandolini’s beguiling roller will leave you yearning for another go.
Available June 8 via Lapsus Music.
