Rabbit in the Moon Launches Thumper Music Label With New ‘Seven Loves Electro’ EP

After a six-year hiatus, Bunny and David Christophere reunited their legendary duo Rabbit in the Moon for a live performance at last year’s Ultra Music Festival—and they haven’t looked back since. Now, they’re releasing brand-new songs on their label Thumper Music, the latest branch under the Insomniac Records family.

To listen to Rabbit in the Moon’s new Seven Loves Electro EP is to hear the sounds of birth and rebirth happening at the same time for the legendary Florida act, known for gutsy, live electric performances and propulsive beats drawing from the Sunshine State’s OG Miami bass and electro foundations. It’s raw yet meticulously produced, and potent by design.

Seven Loves Electro is also a genuine glimpse into the private life of RITM. The EP was named after Bunny’s baby daughter Seven Moon, who was in her mother’s belly when Rabbit in the Moon began writing fresh material to incorporate into the set.

“We decided that if we were going to do this again, we wanted to write all-new music for the show, not just dwell on the past,” Bunny recalls. “During one particular session, we were working on this electro/Miami Bass–type track called ‘In My Brain.’ I brought my fiancée Loni into the studio to get her opinion on it. She was seven months pregnant with our child at the time. As the track played, our unborn baby—whom we had recently decided to name ‘Seven Moon’—began to kick at a crazy rate, like she thought she was in a mosh pit or something. When the track ended, she stopped kicking, and we all laughed. I smiled and said, ‘Seven loves electro!’”

He reports that Seven is now 16 months old and still loves electro. She’s even the “robot baby” on the cover of the EP.

Longtime RITM fans will delight in the EP’s hard beats and bass, which are expressive and reverential of their roots and history, while adding moves into the future. Welcome Thumper Music to the dancefloor, where it’s always belonged.
