San Francisco talents Panic City and 219 Boys have teamed up once again to drop the hard-driving yet smooth-grooving track titled “Same Squad.” Starting with a tech house foundation, the collab sees these minds merge a wide range of styles to hit the listener in all the right places.

“Same Squad” follows laidback hip-hop sensibilities, but it never veers too deep into G-house territory. Instead, the sounds stay much more in the deep tech realm. The four-on-the-floor beat was clearly made to push feet across a dancefloor without the need of bombastic hammering or over-the-top dynamic builds and drops. Completed by a bassline that is not messing around and perfectly fitting the MC lines and hooks, this tune feels like it came together as naturally as a tree grows in the woods.

The structure and execution here are made for movement and are bound to stick in listeners’ heads during a time when so much music simply goes in one ear and out the other. Panic City and 219 Boys have a hit that feels very much at home with some of the similar hits from the mid ‘00s. “Same Squad” certainly has the potential for that kind of staying power.
