Earlier this year, Nhan Solo teamed up with Robert Owens for deep house slow-burner “Everything” on Solo’s Berlin-based powerhouse imprint, Mother Recordings. It radiated the romantic vibe you tend to get whenever Owens croons into the mic.

Solo’s latest offering, “Akira,” also offers distinctive vocals, but these—courtesy of Trio Ternura’s uber-funky 1973 jam “A Gira”—are much more upbeat and joyous, perhaps owing in part to being in Portuguese and giving us Brazilian fun-in-the-sun feels.

An irrepressibly uptempo and hyper-rhythmic number with a bouncy kick and a sweet exotic melody, “Akira” makes clever use of a classic sample and provides a perfect antidote to the winter setting on this side of the equator.

Available November 9 via Mother Recordings.
