If you’re reading this—and your parents were into chilling out in the ‘90s—you might be a Tosca baby. Along with a slew of others back in the day, the Austrian duo (Richard Dorfmeister and Rupert Huber) crafted blunted beats that complemented the ecstatic highs of rave culture. Straight-up dons of downtempo, Tosca brought a Viennese sophistication to their amalgam of ambient, jazzy, and trip-hop sounds.

Since Tosca’s heyday, the music scene and the world at large have changed, with the current universe feeling hostile, leaving many bitter or disillusioned. Tosca too have evolved, but they have not lost their posh, soothing touch and are still lobbing salvos of sonic love into our angst-ridden midst.

Their most recent and eighth album, Going Going Going, just got the remix treatment, and among those recruited to rework it is Ibiza’s Megablast (Sascha Weisz), who puts a deep, psychedelic swirl on his slow-mo disco rework of “Supersunday.” But don’t take our word for it. Tosca themselves will tell you, “The Megablast remix version of ‘Supersunday’ is another example of the splendid talent of Sascha Weisz—part of the top producer team Makossa & Megablast.” Huber adds, “Just as February can be a dark time, it also marks that point when the season begins to turn, and it heralds the return of the warmer, lighter days to come.”

Available February 9 via !K7.
