UK producer Huxley has been a solid hand in house music for a decade now, appearing on stalwart stables like Hypercolour, Tsuba and 20:20 Vision, as well as his 2014 debut artist album on Will Saul’s seminal deep imprint, Aus Music. Over the course of his career, he’s demonstrated a chameleonic quality by touching on various shades of four-on-the-floor grooves. This week, he’s showing his fun, upbeat side with his Unstuck Freek two-tracker, a perfect fit for Australia’s esteemed Sweat it Out! Music stable. And we’re bringing you a preview of its lead cut, “Freekon.”
The track is set at a rollicking tempo, featuring all the trademarks of a producer who knows house music like the back of his hand. Defined by a slamming, grooving bassline that weaves neatly into Huxley’s polished percussion, Huxley shapes the character of “Freekon” with a judiciously chosen vocal sample that keeps its pumping vibe light and energetic.
Available January 25 via Club Sweat.
