Sabo’s L.A.-based Sol Selectas imprint is home to some of the deepest, most multicultural sounds in electronic music. The latest output from them comes via Canadian multi-instrumentalist Gab Rhome, who specializes in lush, funky house music and has previously released cuts on All Day I Dream and Anjunadeep. Titles like “Cashmere,” “Drifting,” and “Warm Days” are a good indicator of the tribal but melodic sounds found on his tracks, the nuanced textures of which may likely have something to do with his affinity with jazz and experimental rock.
His latest, “La Maison,” a deep, rhythmic track that features dramatic strings and children’s chants, draws its inspiration from his childhood home and successfully channels a blissful energy associated with innocence at play in nature. Like memory and the outdoors, it is spacious and enchanting.
Available December 31 via Sol Selectas.
