Any time Emperor jumps on the cut, there is no doubt you’re going to be in for a ride through an undiscovered realm of captivating drum & bass. And this sentiment certainly rings true in the form of his latest tune, “Sosig Thing.” Following his wildly popular Bloodsport EP earlier this year, the UK producer aims to close out 2018 in style with his forthcoming six-track EP, aptly titled Box Cutter, which is due to hit the streets early next month on Critical Music. With the title track earning a feature on BBC Radio 1, it’s clear the project is already gaining some serious recognition.

Sinking its teeth into your subconscious with an ominous introduction right from the start, it’s clear “Sosig Thing” aims to flex with an industrialized drum & bass groove that immediately holds listeners in its grip with an infectious beat. Effortlessly bleeding into the smooth yet steppy bassline, Emperor stunts with a heavily neuro-driven progression that settles into the forefront and transport listeners to another dimension of the unexplored depths of darkness. Once you start to feel out of harm’s way, Emperor hits with yet a second drop that’s drizzled with a heavy low-end while maintaining the upbeat vibe, making for a massive curb stomper and proving once again that Emperor remains unmatched.

Available December 3 via Critical Music.
