I think the idea of calling certain people “artists” is really silly. If you were to be honest and strip away all of the distractions in this world, I think you would find that humans are nothing but artists. We love to create things and share it with each other. I’m no different from you: I create things that make me happy, and it’s a bonus that it happens to make other people happy too. It would be really easy to complicate the whole thing and make it seem like I’m doing some magical thing, but I’m not. Create things that make people feel something. That’s all I ever want to do.

Origin Of Name: The “Technological Singularity” is a time in the near future where computers become smarter than humans. I’ve always been in love with this idea, so it came pretty naturally.

What’s the strangest part of your job?
It’s 4 am. My girlfriend is asleep next to me. I started tweaking this snare at 11 pm and I’m not even close to done. The best part is: I’m having the time of my life.

What is your ultimate career dream?
Play a show on the moon!

How, if at all, does listening to music figure into your creative process?
I listen to Knife Party to remind myself that my mix sounds like shit still.

What’s the last song you heard that made you drop what you were doing and go into the studio?
Wave Racer “Stoopid”

How important is it for you to experiment and take on the risk of failure?
I will stand by the fact that all of my favorite sounds I’ve ever made were from mistakes. I accidentally deleted the wrong track. I accidentally copied the automation to the wrong place. Don’t be so precise all the time!

What should everyone just shut the fuck up about?
Genres! Oh God shut up please.

What gets you excited when you think about the future of electronic music and club culture?
When people finally realize that music isn’t just about dancing. There’s so much more to it than that! My favorite songs ever don’t make me dance, they make me want to cry or laugh. Dancing is over rated, IMO.

Do you have a secret passion?
Super Smash Bros on the N64.

Is success physical or internal?
Success to me just means that I’m making music that has an effect on people and that I’m making enough money to survive.

Do you have a favorite all-time mixed CD or series?

What advice would you offer someone thinking about entering the Discovery Project competition?
Make music that defines you, and then make it sound ridiculously clean. If you can do both of those things, you will be way ahead of the pack.
