On that bass drive, Tokyo born and now Taipei based KAKU delivers a fierce load of electronic numbers across the musical spectrum, ensuring Asia and the world has a dance floor education like no other. Fusing a plethora of sounds to set ablaze a signature vibe, he has his finger on the pulse. Growing up in San Francisco, Jon Kaku subliminally had that internationally equipped Bay Area influence in his genes, where electronic music played an inaugural part in his journey. KAKU’s production studio BSMNT LABS as featured in Mixmag has also taken to great heights raising his own and other emerging talent’s music to the rest of Asia and the world.
A tastemaker in his own right, KAKU takes his presence straight to the stage. Dominating some of Asia’s best festivals like Ultra Japan/Korea and recently being invited to play at the prestigious Tomorrowland festival in Belgium, KAKU has kept the energy high from the first track. From Singapore to Hong Kong’s elite venues to world famous clubs such as Octagon Seoul, Zouk Singapore, Ageha Tokyo, his accolades speak for itself. KAKU has skipped shores and also lit up guest spots at Miami Music Week 2016, Sutton Club in Barcelona and many other shows in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Seattle, Antwerp and Sydney. Last summer, Spain has also flown the KAKU flag at this summer’s newly appointed residency at globally renowned Privilege Ibiza and Pacha La Pineda. Across neon lights he has taken to the stage with the likes of DJ Snake, DVBBS, Marshmello, Porter Robinson and more, employing his signature sound and innovation to every set he delivers.
Out of the studio, KAKU sits tight on a load of anticipated label releases and collaborations set for the release schedule during the 2017 calendar. As Asia’s prime DJ and electronic music innovator, KAKU doesn’t intend to ever lay low ensuring the music that comes out of Taipei and beyond is pinned on maps around the world.
