Hakeem is a DJ/Producer out of Los Angeles, CA. Born in Inglewood and raised in Compton, Hakeem began DJing at the tender age of 6 when his grandparents introduced him to vinyl. Around 8 years old on a trip to visit family in Jamaica, Hakeem experienced his first soundsystem and fell in love with the sounds of Dub and Reggae which would later influence his sound and selection. He later found dubstep at age 11 with the help of the internet and advent of social media. “A lot of the artist I was listening to at the time (Coki, Radikal Guru, Mala, Kromestar, Compa, among others) were heavily influenced by Dub and/or Jungle and the arrangement of the tunes was something new. It was a fresh take on a sound that I loved already.”, Hakeem explains. Now 21, he and partner Al Ross have a monthly radio show on Rinse France where you can catch them playing some of the freshest tunes on the circuit every last Sunday of the month as well as live shows hopefully planned in a city near you.
