The Insomniac Five gets weird and random with your favorite DJs and producers, picking their brains with oddball interviews and preserving it all in the cyber amber. Learn about their biggest fears, favorite foods, strangest experiences and more.

Popeska could teach artists a thing or two about fan appreciation. For his #OneTrackADay initiative, the Atlanta-based producer will be releasing one original song a day (for free!) during the entire month of July. That’s three albums worth of music. But don’t fret, fans: There’s a completely new full-length album on the way as well. Going from producing music in his dorm room at Georgia Tech to becoming the first signee on Wolfgang Gartner’s Kindergarten Records has left Popeska with a deep appreciation for his fans. “The support I get is absolutely amazing, and I hope to support my fans back with some of the most genuine music I’ve made. And lots of it.” He spared some time between dropping releases to answer our Insomniac Five:

One time I was walking home from the grocery store, and I saw a dog with human eyes.

Describe your perfect date.
My perfect date would be an all-expenses paid cruise around the entire world with unlimited food and beers and tons of board games with a water slide and mini golfing on deck. That counts as a date, right?

Have you driven anyone insane?
I think my entire freshman dorm hated me because I always blasted my speakers whenever I was producing. Nothing is more annoying to non-producers than flipping through hi-hat samples at full volume.

What song lyric or movie line best describes your philosophy on life?
Not a lyric or movie line, but the poem Having a Coke With You by Frank O’Hara basically describes what happiness is to me. The poem is full of awesome quotable stuff, but the one that does a pretty good job of summing up is this: “What good does all the research of the Impressionists do them when they never got the right person to stand near the tree when the sun sank.” Basically, when it comes to enjoying an experience or just life in general, it doesn’t really matter what you do, as long as you are doing it with people you love.

Have you ever had a brush with the paranormal or supernatural?
One time I was walking home from the grocery store, and I saw a dog with human eyes.

First album purchased with your own money?
My Chemical Romance’s Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge. Such a great album.
