Shit We Overheard at Global Dance Festival

Global Dance Festival went down this past weekend at Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado, near Denver. We heard some amazing music and saw even more amazing costumes. We also heard and saw lots of funny stuff. Here are the funniest things we heard and saw at Global Dance Festival 2014.

You have to have an ass that is out of this world.
Nikki is Miss Space Booty. In order to rock these panties, she said, “You have to have an ass that is out of this world.” Nikki has been approached by many thirsty dudes, often getting some serious comic relief thanks to botched pickup lines and casual compliments. Nikki says she once got an apology in bacon form from one clever guy. Whatever works, right?

I can’t believe how psychedelic the stage looks!
We caught Nick demonstrating his version of a rain dance as he made his way into the Global Dance Festival. Nick was all smiles in his sizable headdress, willing and ready for anything and everything, as this was his first Global Dance Festival. Nick had no idea what to expect, but after experiencing one night he couldn’t wait for another. Hearing some wild stuff coming from the crowd, Nick recalls a guy yelling, “I can’t believe how psychedelic the stage looks!”

Cursed the crowd and told Red Rocks to blow him.
We came across the two mustached lovers Saturday night. They intend to have new matching outfits each day to keep it spicy. They particularly loved Friday night as they raged with the rest of the crowd during Carnage’s set. They also found it humorous when Carnage “cursed the crowd and told Red Rocks to blow him.” The Chipotle Gang leader has some strange requests.

She could have a reverse shoulder ride from her boyfriend.
Justin has been traveling the festival circuit. Still riding high on the good vibes from EDC Las Vegas, he was ready to go as hard as he could at Global Dance Festival. Justin has seen and heard some pretty outrageous things, but what he heard a girl ask her boyfriend the night before took the cake: “She could have a reverse shoulder ride from her boyfriend.”

It’s comforting that the security guards join in on the fun.
We found this bunny hopping through hoops on Saturday night at Global Dance Festival. Liana had never seen the dancing security guards at Red Rocks before tonight, and she thought it was hilarious. “It’s comforting that the security guards join in on the fun,” Liana said as she bounced away. The security guards at Red Rocks are known for their willingness to get down with the music and the crowd—regardless of the tunes blasting.
Name: DJ Adam
Hometown: Oklahoma City, OK
Number of Global Dance Festivals Attended: First one!

Do you want to race down the incredibly steep steps?
DJ Adam was at Global Dance Festival doing his homework, as he is about to headline Oklahoma City’s forthcoming The TRANCE! Festival. Adam was venturing to the EDM.com Amphitheatre as a girl approached him and asked, “Do you want to race down the incredibly steep steps?” Adam had a laugh and proceeded to survive the challenge. Running the steps at Red Rocks is somewhat of a rite of passage every first-timer needs to experience. DJ Adam officially completed that passage and, along with 10,000 other people, had an amazing time at Global Dance Festival.

Decked out in tie-dye.
Tristyn was loving all the colorful people he saw as he roamed Red Rocks. He couldn’t recall the funniest thing he had heard all weekend, as he had seen so many insane things the past few days at Global Dance Festival. He did think it was funny when he saw a fellow redhead—or “ginger,” as he recalled—“decked out in tie-dye.” The irony was killing him.
Name: Datrick Berry

Dance fucked.
Datrick was cruising Red Rocks when we found him. He was boasting to us about how much he loved the Denver music scene and its diversity. He was most excited about getting back out on the dancefloor. He had a comical moment Friday night when he was “dancing his face off” and the guy beside him said, “Dance fucked!” At that precise moment, the bass dropped.
