Just as Headliners embody the core spirit of EDC via their energy, costumes, passion and positivity, the Discovery Project enhances the experience by adopting fans’ individual music, art, costume and stage creations. Winning music creators perform in front of thousands on the Discovery Project stage at EDC, while the visual artists’ installations and designs are experienced by 400,000 fellow Headliners. Thus, the expanded Discovery Project bridges the gap between the festival and festivalgoer like never before, helping spectators become experience creators.

The Discovery Project already boasts some great success stories in helping alumni take their careers to the next level. Of note, Los Angeles-based production duo Gladiator—part of the Discovery Project freshman class—secured representation by power-player booking agency AM Only and released their Assembly Line EP in April 2014 on A-Trak’s reputable Fool’s Gold Records.

Other Discovery Project winners have received support from some of the world’s top DJs, such as Hardwell and Nicky Romero, and even renowned producer Laidback Luke has served as a Moto X mentor to sibling production duo Blaus, winners of the 2013 White Wonderland Discovery Project competition.

With official backing from Insomniac, the Discovery Project lends winners a sense of legitimacy, a high-profile bullet point on their resume, and ultimately, a vote of confidence. Winning the competition offers creators a glimpse at the possibility of turning their art into a full-time profession.

“That was the big moment for me—realizing this could actually be my career,” says producer Singularity of his 2012 win. “I just took everything a lot more seriously.”

“Discovery Project believed in me and my wildest dreams and helped to make them come true,” says Sabrina Dani, a multimedia artist based in New York City. “That's one of the most important things you can do for a person.”
