Keep the ‘Insomniac Records Presents: EDC Las Vegas 2017’ Compilation on Repeat
With more than 200 artists locked and loaded for this year’s EDC Las Vegas, it’s tough knowing where to begin when trying to pick apart the mammoth-size lineup. The weekend-long festival has DJs for days, and it’s a Herculean effort sorting through them all. As a handy cheat sheet of sorts, the Insomniac Records crew has thoughtfully put together a catch-all compilation that paints a picture of the sounds found at each of the eight stages.
It hits all of the marks. From the heart-palpating melodies of kineticFIELD to the riled-up low-end of bassPOD, all the way down to the well-rounded upside-downHOUSE, which is hosted personally by the Records crew, the 40-track compilation is here to put you up on game.
The EDC Las Vegas 2017 compilation is available here.
Tommy Trash goes big on “Hi Sound Lo Sound,” a breaks-powered tune with loads of wonky flavor. “EDC has always been one of my favorite festivals to play in the world,” he tells Insomniac. “Being a part of the EDC 2017 compilation is a huge privilege and honor!”
Pulling his own weight on the tech trance tip is John Askew, who reps the powerhouse VII collective alongside some of the absolute best in the biz. “Very excited to be a part of this album and have the music of other VII artists represented on there, too,” says Askew. “It’s a great additional chapter to add to VII’s first-ever full-lineup live show being at EDC Vegas this week. To have Insomniac and Dreamstate get so behind this blend of underground music is very cool, indeed.”
“For me, ‘Rock This’ came together quickly and was built around the vocal—which I felt was very fitting for EDC, based on what is being said,” Bijou explains, regarding his heavy-rockin’ contribution. “The bass hits hard and in-your-face while keeping that dark, eerie vibe with the main synth lead that I have developed my sound around. To say I’m excited for EDC is an understatement; I’m honored to not only be performing at this great festival, but to be part of this compilation as well.”
On “Tissue,” Astronomar slips all the way into the stranger zone with an off-kilter club tool. “Big love to the Insomniac Recs boys for supporting my track. I’ve been waiting for the perfect time to unleash it—and what better time than right before I’m back at upside-downHOUSE!? See you in the desert!”
Now that we’ve heard directly from a few of the artists themselves, it’s about time we keep the Insomniac Records Presents: EDC Las Vegas 2017 album on an endless loop until it’s time to play on Friday.
