DJOKO Unleashes Deep Slammer “Bronson”
NYC stalwart Greco recently launched his Rawsome Recordings label as a means of diving deep into the New York City house underground. We’ve been digging their output, and we’re glad to bring you a selection from one of their upcoming releases. The DJOKO Body Movin’ EP arrives on Beatport at the end of the week, and we’ve got a sneak preview for our Track of the Day.
“Bronson” is the second cut on the EP, the deeper of the release’s two records, and it sees DJOKO cleverly contrasting its deeper techno vibes with a rollicking groove, with its four/four kick keeping things bouncing before it drops into hypnotizing territory during its two breakdowns.
“Greco and I met on the Rawsome boat party last year during ADE,” DJOKO tells Insomniac. “After meeting again in NY, we spoke about the goals of Rawsome and what sound the label represents. So, I sat down and created the second track that was missing for the EP. The inspiration for ‘Bronson’ was to give it a dark, industrial feel that sets focus on the drums and percussive blips. Even though ‘Body Movin’’ is drum-oriented as well, this one would become more of a techno track in the end, instead of straight house.”
Available May 15 via Rawsome Recordings.
