Age: 30
Hometown: Mexico City
Number of EDCs: Two
What’s one thing you’d show your friends and family about EDC? What I like is that the atmosphere is super cool. Everyone come with good vibes. You end up making a lot of friends. I think a lot of people don’t understand that concept. Here, it’s a little different than over there in Vegas. But in a way, it’s also very similar. The whole world comes with all the energy and all the good vibes, and that’s what’s so cool. There’s so much energy.
What’s one Spanish word or saying you’d like to teach our US raver friends? Chidisimo (“It’s super cool”).

Name: Kevin and Lorena
Age: 22 (K), 19 (L)
Hometown: Guerrero (K), Mexico City (L)
Number of EDCs: Two (both)
What’s one thing you’d show your friends and family about EDC?
Kevin: We have a Facebook group where we try to invite more people so they know the festivals, the performers, the stages, the DJs, everything that has expanded. [We show] people that this genre isn’t from one country, and that you can participate with many more. We see so many people gathered here, and you couldn’t imagine how well Mexico has been positioned in the electronic music scene in only a few years.
Lorena: I’d show them PLUR culture, because it’s very, very cool. [Just] now, I met a pair of kids. We traded kandi; it was marvelous. We’re meeting new people, and I’d show them that.
What’s one Spanish word or saying you’d like to teach our US raver friends?
Lorena: I’d show them union (unity). We all know “unity” is part of PLUR. Mexico should unite a bit more, not be racist. For example, I just met some kids from Japan. We traded kandi, and it was fantastic. I don’t know how to speak their language, but we understood each other. It was really fantastic.

Name: Mike and John
Age: Las Vegas (M), Los Angeles (J)
Hometown: 29 (M), 30 (J)
Number of EDCs: First time! (M), four (J)
What’s one thing you’d show your friends and family about EDC?
Mike: I want people to know EDC is really about the costumes and the feeling you get when you’re here. I’ve seen it in Las Vegas, of course. That’s why we’re in costume right now: to spread the feeling of what you get when you go to EDC.
John: I like that it’s a community for everybody. It don’t matter how young you are, how old you are, if you’re into the music, if you’re not into the music. It’s such a variety. It’s just a blast, no matter who you are.

Name: Daniel, Diego, Ximena, Fernando, Juan Pablo
Age: 26 (Daniel), 22 (Diego), 20 (Ximena), 22 (Fernando), 30 (Juan Pablo)
Hometown: Mexico City and Guadalajara
Number of EDCs: Three
What’s one thing you’d show your friends and family about EDC?
Daniel: Right now, they have the idea that it’s not a safe place. But they should know it’s a safe place [where] you have tons of fun, [there’s] good music, and it’s cool.
What’s one Spanish word or saying you’d like to teach our US raver friends?
Daniel: Desmadre, which means total chaos.
Ximena: And to party!

Name: Erick and Hernan
Age: 21 (both)
Hometown: Mexico City (both)
Number of EDCs: First time! (E), three (H)
What’s one thing you’d show your friends and family about EDC?
Erick: The atmosphere and the culture—I think the unity within the surroundings is important.
Hernan: The internationality of it all, because you come across people from different cultures, and it becomes different from your everyday life.
What’s one Spanish word or saying you’d like to teach our US raver friends?
Erick: Esta chingon, cabron (“It’s fucking awesome, dude!”).

Name: Elisa and Rebecca
Age: 24 (E), 18 (R)
Hometown: Mexico City
Number of EDCs: Three (E), first time! (R)
What’s one thing you’d show your friends and family about EDC?
Elisa: It’s a place where you can have fun and play like a kid and come as you want. The goal is to have fun and have an incredible time. As you get older, there are a lot of issues, but right here you can do whatever you want—just simply have fun.
Rebecca: When we came on the bus, a lot of people were staring at us. But the idea here is to feel like a kid and have fun.
What’s one Spanish word or saying you’d like to teach our US raver friends?
Rebecca: Amigos (“friends”). Even though we look like, “Hey, look at them,” when they ask you for a photo with you, it feels like a reunion—like we’re all friends and there are no differences.
