As we get ready to knock on the door of 2016, we asked some of our favorite DJs to give us their top five tracks of the year. Dive into Audiofly’s essential selections below.

In the same way you wouldn’t question the authority of a 10-year doctor who’s shedding some light on those pesky symptoms you’ve been coming down with, the informed musical opinion held by Anthony Middleton and Luca Saporito warrants an equal amount of respect. Having spent over a decade chiseling out a corner in the underground via their Audiofly project, it’s fair to assume the gents have what it takes to spot a proper groove.

Let’s put it to you this way: How many people do you know that are juggling two widely respected record labels at once? Well, this British-meets-Italian duo can say they are, with Supernature and the all-vinyl Maison D’Etre lending them all the discerning credibility anyone could ever ask for. Perhaps the strongest argument defending their case is the continent-crossing Flying Circus party brand, which is curated with extreme care and crazy levels of mind-altering music. I think we can agree Audiofly is an expert on the subject of choice cuts, which is why we asked them to point out their five favorites from the year.

Sebastian Mullaert “Movement”

Sebastian is one half of Minilogue, and an incredibly intricate artist on his own. This track is quite recent, but it has been a mainstay in our sets throughout. The subtlety of the melodies and the intricacy found in his production values give this track a certain melancholy that helps us take our sets to the next level. A true gem.

Barac & Vincentiulian “In Colour”

This track seems totally tailor-made for one of our sets. We do play quite a lot of Romanian music in our sets, but in a slightly different way than most DJs who play this style do. I love how the melodies work with each other and create this magic vibe that gives plenty of tension to the track. Always a winner in our sets, and I absolutely love to see people’s faces when it comes on—it always brings a smile to their faces.

Audiofly “Chiaroscuro”

“Chiaroscuro” marks a distinct change in direction for us, and a track that we’re quite proud of, as it shows dexterity in our sound. Also, it’s one of these tracks of ours that we keep playing in our sets and consistently gets great reactions, so why the hell not put it in our top five?

Christian Burkhardt & TOCO “Bubbles & Strings” (Tobi Neumann and Marco Unzip remix)

Tobi Neumann is one of the nicest guys in the business, and a true analog addict—a thing that always shows in his productions. This remix is quite different from the stuff we’re used to from him, but it’s an incredible piece of work and always gets immense reaction when played. I am so looking forward to playing this track during sunrise at our Flying Circus party in Mexico this NYE; I can already imagine the joy.

Donato Dozzy “Cassandra”

What an absolutely stunning piece! Quite simple in its arrangement, but really, really effective! Donato is a true master at his craft, and this piece really shows why he’s loved by the techno community the world over. I remember like it was yesterday when we played this at Movement Festival in Detroit, and people lapping it up like we were throwing money at them. An instant classic for us.
