TRU Concept & DevelopMENT ft. Romany “If You Want Me” (Roska Remix)
It was obviously a wise choice for TRU Concept to hook up with fellow Birmingham head DevelopMENT on “If You Want Me.” The collab has taken flight in the last few months, racking up hella plays due in large part to its sweat-inducing bass house form with plenty of dancefloor appeal. The choon is huge, and it still hasn’t reached its peak quite yet. I know this because it’s about to take on interpretations from Mark Spence and Vice City.
Sticking staunchly to his ridiculously impressive drum programming, Rinse resident Roska also comes through to churn out his own chill-tempered club rework. He lets Romany’s vocal work set the stage before subtly shoving out tepid bass tones that play nice with soft-to-the-touch stabs. It’s slow-burning, with vibes for days, and you won’t be able to get enough of it. Just Roska doing what he does best.
Available June 22 via Form & Function.
Did you discuss or exchange ideas with other producers while creating this track?
No, I rarely do that. This was a remix, so the idea is there already. I just need to put my stamp on it.
Do you think advances in computer technology and gear have affected your creativity?
I think it has, in a positive way. I’m able to place my ideas down quickly and make changes easier, for sure.
Have you played this one out in any of your sets? If so, what was the response?
I’ve tested an early draft of this remix out in Bristol, UK, a few weeks ago and got a good response.
What’s your favorite sound/synth/effect/etc. used here?
At the moment, it’s my Dave Smith Tetra. It has some good bass sounds on there I’m tweaking at the moment.
If this song were a color, what color would it be?
I’d say it’s between blue and purple.
