What advice would you offer someone thinking about entering the Discovery Project competition?
Matt: Eliminate the fear of failure.
Darren: Use constructive criticism to your advantage.

Was there one particular moment in the recording or mixing process for your Discovery Project entry that made you feel like you were creating something pretty damn special?
Everything just seemed to fall into place perfectly while creating “Be Free.” It all began with a lead and a simple melody that lead to an incredible production.

Are there any dots to connect with where/how you grew up to your musical output?
Music has been our passion since a very young age. The funny thing is no one in either of our immediate families has a musical background.

What is your ultimate career dream?
To share our music with the world.

Are you impulsive with your work (in the studio and/or DJing) or do you have a sketch in mind before you start?
We’re impulsive. We let our fingers hit the keys and just feel and hear out the music. We do the same thing when it comes to performing live.

How, if at all, does listening to music figure into your creative process? What’s the last song you heard that made you drop what you were doing and go into the studio?
Listening to music is a must! We find inspiration in many genres. Not only do you have to feel the emotion through music to create , you also have to feel and relate to the emotions you experience in life in order to produce something that will trigger an audience to feel what the artist was feeling when they were creating the track.

What is the most important piece of gear in your studio?
You can have the knowledge to run and work the gear but a creative mind is the most essential piece of gear you can have.

Do you have a list of people you’d like to collaborate with (from musicians to designers) in the future?
Disclosure is huge inspiration. They got us into dance music and basically captured our hearts. Also Banks because of her voice.

What sound or noise do you love?
Which human does not love low end? Because we sure do!

What should everyone just shut the fuck up about?
Molly and Bae.

Do you have any memorable moments from past EDC’s or any other Insomniac party?
Matt: I used to joke with Darren saying I’m not going to an Insomniac event until we perform at one, and now Escape: All Hallows’ Eve will be my first Insomniac event.
Darren: I attended EDC 2012 and 2013. EDC inspired me to work harder and more passionately towards being booked for such events and now it is a reality!
