Headliners, do you have a passion for tech and music festivals? Then here’s your chance to combine the best of both worlds! We’re partnering with Amazon Web Services and Intel to host Hack Till Dawn, a once-in-a-lifetime hackathon taking place Saturday, May 5, and Sunday, May 6, at Milk Studios Los Angeles. Hack Till Dawn welcomes tech-loving Headliners and music-obsessed techies to create the most revolutionary new tech that will help disrupt the music festival world. And best of all, finalists take home VIP passes, hotel and airfare to EDC Las Vegas 2018. Grand Prize winners move on to EDC Orlando 2018 to bring this technology to life!
We’re always looking for ways to enhance your festival experience, and Hack Till Dawn is doing just that by using modern-day technologies to elevate your festival life into the future. What’s the most kick-ass technology you’ve always wished for at music festivals? What would you create if the sky were the limit? Hack Till Dawn is tackling these questions head-on!
HOW IT WORKS
Gather your most creative developer friends or co-workers and join Hack Till Dawn as a team. Or come on your own and meet other like-minded developers with whom you can join forces.
Participants are asked to use AWS technology to create an experience that is needed or would greatly enhance the fan experience at EDC. It can be anything from getting more information on the events and activities at the festival to using a virtual assistant to direct Headliners to the nearest bathroom with the shortest line. Anything you can dream of for a festival, make it!
Stage 1: L.A. Hackathon (May 5–6, 2018)
The top three teams will win VIP passes to EDC Las Vegas 2018, airfare, hotel, featured promotion of their idea by the festival, and more.
Stage 2: EDC Las Vegas (May 18–20, 2018)
The top three teams will have their demo videos featured by EDC Las Vegas where festival fans will vote for the grand-prize winner. Grand-prize winner will be announced Friday, June 1.
Stage 3: The Grand Prize
The top team will win VIP passes to EDC Orlando 2018 (November 9–10, 2018), airfare, and hotel (one per person). They’ll also receive implementation and promotion of their winning idea at EDC Orlando 2018, tickets to 2018 re:Invent and the re:Play party (one per person), and a presentation of their idea at an AWS DeepLens breakout session at re:Invent.
We will host an AWS + EDC Festival Hackathon Virtual Session via Zoom Wednesday, May 2, at 6:30pm PT. The Los Angeles hackathon begins Saturday, May 5, and runs through Sunday, May 6. Winning teams will then move on to the next stages as outlined above.
Each submission will be scored by a panel of judges in each round based on Simplicity, Creativity, Design, Usage of Featured and Surprise Technology, and Presentation, with the final score being the average of the judges’ scores.
TOP THREE TEAMS IN LAS VEGAS: FAN VOTING
Leading up to and during EDC Las Vegas 2018, attendees will have the opportunity to vote on their favorite idea. AWS and EDC will promote the submissions, encouraging fans to check out the pitch videos and cast their vote for the idea they’d like to see brought to life at EDC Orlando 2018.
