Rushing back with his next single on Monstercat, Rich Edwards presses onward with an inflammable follow-up to the Jonny Rose-assisted “See It All.” Since his debut on the Vancouver-based imprint, the Swede has racked up significant success through a spurt of prog house releases—each pointing to his ability to articulate new musical ideas.

Edwards is now swinging out with “Inferno,” a gassed-up festival blazer that sees him shifting away from his previous output. Set to catch like wildfire, the track boasts a high-octane lead that could pop the lid off floors. A compound of rattling synths and thundering basslines creates a booming centerpiece that recedes into a piano-led break before the next explosive drop hits. Rich Edwards is on fire.

Available February 27 via Monstercat.

If you were to describe this track as a scent, a signature fragrance as it were, what would it be called?
I would call it Burn by Rich Edwards. It might sting, but at least you smell good!

Were you impulsive on this track, or did you have a sketch in mind before you started?
I had been thinking that I wanted to make something different to what I usually produce, and to make a specific track that would be perfect as a set-starter. The process started from a sound that I found in a synth that I had just got my hands on. From there, I made the leads, and then the rest of the track just fell into place. I’ve worked on it for a while and changed the sounds around a lot. But that first lead sound is still there and is a significant characteristic of the track.

What’s your favorite sound/synth/effect/etc. used here?
The sound I was referring to comes from the synth Cyclop from Sugar Bytes. It has a lot of really cool sounds, and I’ve been using it a lot in my productions since I got it. The effect that comes into play a lot on the leads is the Enigma from Waves. It took a lot of tweaking, but I finally got it just right.

Have you played this one out in any of your sets? If so, what was the response?
I’ve been playing this track out for a while. The reactions have been great with this particular version. I always play a lot of works-in-progress to see how the crowd reacts. That is mainly the way I determine if a track is worth completing.

Did you discuss or exchange ideas with other producers while creating this track?
I share a studio with Hellberg, and we always share our opinions on each other’s tracks—whether we like it or not. This particular track went pretty smooth, since I had an idea of what I wanted to accomplish with it. But usually I send a track around to my inner circle of producer friends and ask for their opinions and bounce ideas around.
