Rising Leeds powerhouse GAWP is back with another heater that is sure to break sweats throughout the club. Titled “Narco,” this is a serious chunk of down and dirty house music. A primetime number, to be sure, GAWP keeps the energy bursting at the seams. It stays turned to 11, though not through over-the-top intensity, but via rolling, laidback grooves.

Somewhere between the late ‘90s and today, this track has everything from classic stabs and basslines, all the way to a brief MC interlude that styles itself as a pre-track PSA. A driving beat keeps the action locked, led by an emphatic kick. Under that, rolling snares rise and burst into funky rhythms, and hip-gyrating bass dictates the mood. GAWP keeps the sounds fresh and active without throwing too much in the mix or getting lost in the pieces. In the end, “Narco” is an awesomely catchy track that could move a crowd with ease.

“When looking for a perfect intro track for my sets, nothing quite cut the mustard,” GAWP tells Insomniac. “So, I decided to use a lyrical intro, which would make people realize the transition of the act, and ‘Narco’ was born!”
