EASTGHOST “No Resistance No Demons”
How are you meant to feel after another mass shooting? Do we just become numb to murder and accept it as an everyday occurrence? Do we get angry and try to implement change? I don’t know the answers, but I know I look to music to offer some catharsis.
The Wedidit collective is often known for their droned-out, dystopian take on electronic music, and they’ve called upon EASTGHOST to prepare a track for their sublabel called Tombstone Recordings. It’s everything we’ve come to love from the label that’s given us RL Grime, Shlohmo and Tory Lanez. There are moments when you feel like you’re drowning in opiates, but you’re suddenly pulled back into consciousness with squelching sub-bass and knocking drum patterns. The piano outro is some of the most beautifully composed music I’ve heard all year, which really makes this one pull on the heartstrings.
