Free Download: MKLY Gives Royale’s “Eternal” a Lush, Trance-Leaning Work-Ove
Royale is the new studio partnership from Chillage Records boss Peter Farr and singer Annie Jacobsen, who ambitiously describe the project as a “collective vision.” Focusing on future garage, they draw influence from stalwarts of the bass scene like Phalaeh, Burial, Ghostek, and more. For a remix that’s tuned for the house clubs, they’ve turned to rising South African producer MKLY, known for striking the balance between accessibility and the underground.
MKLY’s remix is a lush affair, fusing the vocals of the original with deep house grooves and seductive trance melodies, for a versatile offering that will work across plenty of settings.
“For this remix, I tried to keep the original atmosphere of the track intact, whilst adding a melancholic element that drives most of my music,” says MKLY. “The vocals helped push the track forward and gave depth to the ambience and textures I layered around them. I tried to link danceability and approachability with an underground sensibility to help reach both mainstream and underground fans alike.”
